The number of engine mounts in a vehicle depends on various factors such as engine design, chassis, and engine weight. For cars with a front differential and a transversely mounted
The Engine Mount is a device that restrains the vibrations, shocks, and impacts of the engine. In fact, this part, more fully referred to as the Engine Anchor Mount, is responsible for bearing the weight of the car’s engine. The engine mount plays the role of a support for the engine, allowing it to perform its duties with more balance and stability. The technical system of cars can be likened to a puzzle that, when put together, sets the car in motion.

However, the pieces of this puzzle need stability and strength to stay in place and function without stress. Therefore, each piece must be fastened to the body or other sturdy parts, either through other pieces or with special clamps. The engine is also fastened to the car body by a part known as its mount. The engine mount is the most essential and primary support or, in a way, clamp among car parts. The duties of this part can be summarized as follows:
The engine, due to the impacts resulting from the release or engagement of the clutch and the release of the tires due to connection to the rest of the parts, tends to have a lot of lateral shocks to dissipate this energy. These shocks are usually in the form of torsional torques. The only part that can withstand these torques is the car chassis. But if the body is completely tightened to the chassis, a lot of pressure is applied to the engine. A flexible state is created at the connection point of the engine and chassis to control pressure. In fact, the engine mount is obliged to balance the two types of vibrations entering the car, which are caused by the road and the operation of the engine, and also reduce the pressure applied to the chassis.

The engine mount is usually used in different numbers and at the top and bottom or sides of the engine. This part is produced by various companies and in different types, but the most common ones are two types:
Hydraulic engine mounts, which are the more expensive and complex type of this part, are made up of two layers of spring, a rubber part, and a fluid. That’s why they are called hydraulic. In fact, this type of engine mount benefits from the capabilities of the spring, rubber, and hydraulic oil fluid to dissipate and absorb impact alongside each other. The hydraulic nature of them refers to the layers of spring and oil in between them. In hydraulic engine mounts, two layers of spring that are hooked into each other are responsible for absorbing force and impacts.
Rubber engine mounts, due to their more straightforward mechanism, have a more reasonable price and are produced in different sizes according to the dimensions of the engine and its weight. Their material is a type of flexible plastic with the ability to absorb vibrations and impacts. This material is called plantable plastic, which also has high durability. The rubber part of this type of engine mount is placed between two metal plates, which are usually made of cast iron or iron. One plate is screwed to the body or chassis and the engine or cylinder block.
Due to their mode of operation, combustion engines used in today’s cars usually produce a lot of shocks and vibrations. In fact, the heavy and continuous explosions that provide the necessary force to set the vehicle in motion cause heavy and sometimes uncontrollable vibrations in the engine. These vibrations, of course, are transmitted to the cabin and make driving uncomfortable and tiring.

Car manufacturers, who are always looking for more comfort and tranquillity for the driver and passengers of their cars, have been looking for a way to reduce these annoying shocks from the past. Invariably, the silence and tranquillity of the cabin are considered one of the advantages of cars, and cars that do not transmit the sound and impact resulting from the operation of the engine to their cabin are famous for this feature. One of the tricks to achieve this goal is to produce engines with less vibration, shock, and impact, which itself requires complex processes and designs.
